Not soup, not even close … but, the Denver Burger Battle, which took place at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium, was such a fun event last week, I had to mention it! Imagine, 12 well-known, well-respected, well-digested “burger joints” going head-to-head in an epic-sized battle of the red-meat appetite-quencher! The dueling restaurants were Larkburger, Highland Tap and Burger, CityGrille, TAG, Park Burger, The Sink, Madison Street, Crave, H Burger, Mateo, Cholon and Row 14. With attendees voting, as well as a panel of culinary experts, 2 awards were given: People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice.
Larkburger featured “Bacon-Cheddar Truffle Burger” – applewood smoked bacon, Tillamook cheddar, truffle aioli, house-ripened tomato, leaf lettuce, sliced red onion, 100% Chuck Certified Angus Beef on a Brioche bun. This prevailed as the Judges’ Choice. (Picture is of me, taste-testing the Larkburger)!
Crave Real Burgers featured “The Wiseguy” – a burger topped with crispy Mozzarella, prosciutto, fresh basil, tomato and onion drizzled with balsamic and olive oil. This claimed the People’s Choice, which I must say I voted for, as well. Additionally, it will represent Colorado at the World Food Championships in the Burger Event this November in Vegas.
Such a wonderfully delicious event, as well as benefiting a good cause: keeping children well-nourished! Ending the night with the mini burgers (chocolate macaroons)!
