Vail, Colorado is the epicenter of culinary delights! This Labor Day weekend is no different in the village. Cadillac presents Gourmet on Gore; a unique culinary festival offering an open-air tasting with world-class wine, beer and spirits paired with edible enjoyments from Vail’s top restaurants: Batter Cupcakes, Bistro Fourteen, Blue Moose Pizza, Blu's Restaurant, Campo de Fiori, Cima, CinéBistro, Elway’s Restaurant, Flame, Game Creek, Larkburger, Larkspur Restaurant & Market, La Tour, Bully Ranch Restaurant, Matsuhisa Vail, Pepi’s Restaurant, Up the Creek Bar & Grill, Vail Chophouse, Rimini, Sweet Basil, 7one5, Taste5, and Zino Ristorante.
Our party strolled through the heart of Vail Village on Saturday afternoon – our senses being thrilled the entire time, especially our taste buds, seeing as we sampled dishes from almost every restaurant. We particularly loved Flame's Sous Vide NY Strip Steak with black pepper relish served over creamy, mouthwatering macaroni and cheese. And, one of my other favorite things, since being in this soup-craze of mine, was Bully Ranch's Fresh Corn and Shrimp Chowder (being enjoyed below, with a Bloody Mary in the other hand).
Now, a hike along the celebrated Gore Creek to work-off the delicacies! My son devoured his first Larkburger - the Truffle Burger, not to be his last. And, we couldn’t miss having a slice from Blue Moose Pizza. After our final tastes of CinéBistro's hoisin ribs, Cima's chipotle pork belly with tomato ginger jam, Sweet Basil's beef cheek barbacoa with smoked cashew mole, Matsuhisa Vail's lobster tacos with asparagus and guacamole, and La Tour's Asian beef sliders, we were ready for the sweet finale. We capped-off our eating extravaganza with apple cider shakes from 7one5, coconut gelato with tropical fruit salsa from Rimini and red velvet cake pops from Batter Cupcakes - all in front of the jazz music bandstand.
