Holidays are here! And, since I am an enormous proponent of anything celebratory, especially around Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the next few blog posts will be holiday-centric. For ease, I am categorizing the holiday event schedules by state. Enjoy!
Washington & Oregon Holiday Events
There are so many fun events to attend around the Mt. Hood skiing locale. You can start-off the holiday season with the “Hood River Holidays Kick-Off” on November 30. Then, in December there are many more festivities: Christmas in Historic Oregon City and Christmas in the Country, to name a few. On December 8th at Mount Hood Meadows, you can taste some of the best Northwest microbrews at Brew Fest. On December 17, the 3-day Holiday Kids Camp starts at Mount Hood Meadows to take advantage of the holiday break from school. Finally at Mt Hood Skibowl, enjoy the 25th Annual New Year's Eve Extravaganza on December 31. In addition to live music, the slope-side Beer Garden and the legendary fireworks display at midnight and riding until 2 a.m., Skibowl will be staging a dramatic pre-fireworks Torchlight Parade down the Lower Bowl run.
The base community of Mt. Bachelor, Bend, Oregon, hosts an abundance of holiday-themed events in the December month. The tree lighting in Bend happens on November 30, then the month-long celebration begins. To name a few: The Well Traveled Fork Kitchen has holiday-inspired cooking classes through the month of December. The Old Mill District of Bend has a jovial Santa Land to visit and complimentary carriage rides to experience from November 23 – December 23. There is a Country Christmas celebration, gift-wrapping seminars, a Christmas parade, Jingle Bell Run, 6th Annual Holiday Village Market, The Nutcracker production, Breakfast with Santa, and the list goes on. Bend’s community calendar lists the entire month’s worth of activities – Enjoy!
