Top Utah Holiday Events

The holidays are here!  And, since I am an enormous proponent of anything celebratory, especially around Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the next few blog posts will be holiday-centric.  For ease, I am categorizing the holiday event schedules by state.  Enjoy!

Utah Holiday Events

            Powder Mountain and Wolf Mountain

Powder Mountain and Wolf Mountain are both near Eden, Utah.  Eden has a number of fun and spirited holiday events.  A community dance party, including Country Dancing, Squares, Line, Rounds, and Contra dancing, is scheduled for December 7.  Also featured in Eden are The Forgotten Carols evening and a Holiday Open House.

            Park City Mountain Resort

On historic Main Street in Park City, during the month of December, the Historic Park City District will host a number of events, classes and activities as a part of the holidays to celebrate the festive season.   A holiday fair will feature 100 unique vendors selling jewelry, clothing, accessories, gourmet foods & much more!  Take photos with Silly Santa. Enjoy holiday kids' activities, live acoustic holiday music, including the Park City High School Choir and Band. Food and drinks provided by the PCHS sports teams.

            Canyons Resort

From December 23 - 25, Santa will shred the slopes at The Canyons, delivering candy and treats to all the good boys and girls. Look for Santa at the Flight of The Canyons gondola, as well as throughout the entire resort, from 10:00am - 2:00pm.  Then, on December 31, Canyons will be hosting another exciting event on the Ski Beach, complete with a DJ and free fireworks show at 7:30pm.  What a fun resort to celebrate the December month!

            Deer Valley

Santa will visit Deer Valley on December 24 in the Snow Park Lodge area from 9 to 11 a.m. From noon to 1:30 p.m. Santa will visit guests in the Silver Lake Lodge area. Guests are invited to bring a camera and have their picture taken with Santa. Then, on December 30, the  Torchlight Parade will be held at approximately 6 p.m. (dusk) on Big Stick ski run on Bald Eagle Mountain. Complimentary hot cider and cookies will be served on the Snow Park Plaza.  Deer Valley will host other December activities, as well.

On New Year's Eve, Alta has a torchlight parade and fireworks! It follows the main cat track from Watson Shelter (featured in Ski Town Soups) to the base of the mountain. Along with this parade, Alta supports the Utah Food Bank with a non-perishable collection.

Snowbird is embracing the 2012 December holiday season.   Planned events are abound with promise: a wine dinner, ski movies at The Aerie and The Forklift, Christmas Eve candlelight service, firework display and torchlight parade.  Additionally, The Wildflower (featured in Ski Town Soups) is providing live music on December 14, 21 and 28.

Snowbasin will celebrate the season with its Annual Holiday Gala.

            Solitude and Brighton

Both Solitude and Brighton are located in Salt Lake County, which has many different holiday events: holiday concerts including a Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert (December 13 – 16), holiday lights in the Zoo, a live Nativity, and breakfast with Santa.
